Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth

The following is the Final Presentation of the Social Entrepreneurship Team’s research through the Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth. We worked with Tulsa Newcomer Services, a non-profit education institution focused on providing resources to teachers of immigrants, refugees, and non-traditional students. We spent a semester preparing this research through bi-weekly team meetings, bi-monthly meetings with staff, various interviews, government documents, peer-reviewed presentations, and input from the Tulsa Newcomer Services founder, Maria.

In 2015, I worked as an intern for the University of Oklahoma College of International Studies. I was able to contribute to the college as the Global Engagement Fellowship, Fulbright Programs, and CIS Philanthropy Student Assistant. The bulk of my time was spent at the University of Oklahoma National Public Radio Affiliate, KGOU. There, I worked on the College of International Studies’ show, World Views. I prepared the Deans of the College for interviews with international scholars by conducting research and preparing questions. I also transcribed interviews and created stories to accompany the recording on the KGOU website. Below are a few examples.

The Journal Record Legislative Report

The first two years of my undergraduate career, I was able to work at the State Capitol as a reporting intern for JRLR. JRLR is a real-time reporting firm for those who want information on decisions being made by representatives and senators at the local level. Through this internship, I was able to gain an understanding of the legislative process, legislative interpretation, and the importance of professionalism. Here are a few of the reports I made:
